Can the Tarjeta Dorada be used for the Trenhotel between Barcelona and Granada?

I don;t think so because the Trenhotel is a private train. But I am willing to be corrected.

Again no - only on these train types/journeys - http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/tarifas/tarjeta_dorada.html You did not ask, and as much as I like train travel, have you considered flights?
