Travelling to Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Denmark

I am looking to travel to the above places this year, I would like to get around by using Eurail as I have had good experiences in the past. Can anyone recommend the best way to tackle such a diverse trip without back tracking too much?
Has anyone out there got any ideas? I am open to car hire for some of the trip if necessary thanks

Too open ended with the limited response space. You should propose your ideas and then we can add or subtract depending on your interests. Second there are no Eurail railroads. That is a pass sold to use the various railroad systems. And Denmark is a long ways from the other three countries. Save it for another trip.

Also, how long do you want to stay in Europe, what month, and have you read any guidebooks so you know what you're most interested in seeing?

Susan, If you intend on sticking to this 4 country agenda, it can be done. I would do it using a 3 country Eurail Pass (Ger, Den., Austria). You should be prepared to take some night trains instead doing the long route by day, eg., from Kopenhagen-Vienna, to minimise the number of transfers. or Berlin-Kopenhagen. For travel in CZ buy point to point tickets. Use the Pass only for the long rides to get the most value for the money. If you're going from Vienna-Berlin (day), don't take the route going through CZ, since you need to buy an additional ticket to cover the CZ part of the ride. Take the route that goes through only Austria and Germany, both of which are covered by the Pass and it's not mandatory to reserve. For the night train Vienna-Berlin, you need to reserve.

thank you for your advice. I will be flying into Frankfurt and from there travelling anti clockwise around Germany into Austria, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna. A flight to Prague from Vienna, the train from Prague to Berlin. Berlin to Copenhagen will be by return flight. Then continue on thru Germny. Rhine River cruise from Dusseldorf to Bonn (if I can find a short cruise for this area). There is a lot more to research yet.

I'm not sure I would fly from Vienna to Prague. There is a direct Eurocity train in 4hr 46min. If you fly, you have to factor in the time getting to the Vienna airport, check in, security, preboard time, flight time, deplaning time in Prague and getting from the airport into town (~1 hr). It will be about as fast and a lot less hassle to take the train. With sufficient advance purchase, you can get online tickets from Austrian Rail (www.oebb.at) for Vienna to Prague for €29 pP.
