Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to get from Cologne Germany to Rothenburg. It appears you can take a train and transfer at steinach, but not clear on the exact details along with how long it would take. I am from Canada and planning a trip next year so just wanting to plan ahead a bit. Thanks for any info.

It takes about 4 hours. Cologne works as the Start but use the full name of Rothenburg ob der Tauber for the Destination.

Travelling in Germany by train is VERY easy (except when there's a World Cup Soccer party happening on the car you're riding in, although copious quantities of Beer certainly make that easier).
I haven't checked the route, but changing trains in Steinach will be necessary in any case, as Rothenburg is on a "spur line". As I recall, the line from Steinach to Rothenburg uses a diesel train, rather than electric.
