Travelling in Belgium

I will be spending a few days in Belgium in June, probably using Bruge as a base. We want to travel around to Ostende, Ypres and such. Would we be better renting a car for 2 or 3 days or could we see as much by using the rail system? Thank You - Bob in Toronto

The rail system is pretty good, but if you want to tour the battlefield sites around Ypres you will probably need to rent a car, unless you take an organised tour.
