we are visiting Paris in October and would like to visit Geneva Switzerland, any suggestions for train station to travel from and mid range places to stay in Geneva, any other suggestions would be most helpful.

You can book tickets at www.sncf.com up to 90 days in advance. If you book as soon as the 90-day window opens, you may be able to get a discount fare as low as €20. Click on the British flag in the lower left-hand corner to view the site in English. Leave France as the default country, do NOT choose cancellation insurance, and choose the option of picking up your ticket at a station or SNCF boutique.
