Travellin to Zurich from Paris by train ot plane?

If you can get one of the nice TGV train runs with no train changes out of Paris-Est, the travel time is 4.5hrs. Flying may beat this time slightly. You can fly Air France or a European budget airline. Air Berlin looks like the only budget airline flying from Paris-CDG or Paris-Orly to Zurich. No hassles or security on the train. Almost the same story and travel time from Zurich to Munich except that I don't see any budget airline flights. Full-fare airlines only.

Take the train. If you book well in advance (up to three months allowed) at www.tgv-europe.com, you can get a Piccolo fare of €35 for the direct Paris-Zurich TGV that departs at 08:24 and arrives at 13:00. If you do the same at www.bahn.de, you can get a €39 fare for Zurich-Munich for several departure times.

Factoring in the time it takes to get to and from airports and going through security, taking the train can be faster than flying. It's certainly more relaxing and leaves a minimal carbon footprint. If you rent a car in one country and drop it off in another, you will pay a stiff fee.
