looking for a tour guide to take 2 people around paris
Here's a second vote for Arnaud. I have personal experience with Arnaud and you'll find him very knowledgeable and amusing. He's wonderful.
I just checked out the web site, as we will be in Paris for 6 days in September. 160 euros $228 Aud.) per person for a 3 hour tour!!!! Good grief, that's very expensive. What on earth do you get in that time. A 3 course lunch with wine thrown in???!!!!
I'm not one who counts the cost too much when travelling. I want to do and see everything I possibly can. I was frankly shocked at this cost. We are doing whole day tours in various places for this cost.
You can do Paris on your own and save the money. Or save the research time and pay someone. It's a trade-off. Only you can decide which way is best for you.
I have to agree...Paris is wonderful to just wander the different neighborhoods and if you use a guidebook or two, you will see most of the same places. A much less expensive idea, which we are trying this trip (and is highly rated on TripAdvisor) is a Bike About Paris tour. It is 3 hrs and goes thru a lot of the neighborhoods, but not the "big" sights. Then you could go back to the areas you really like and spend more time...just a thought...BTW, we will be in Paris at the same time with our kids and mother-in-law...think sun:-))
I did what Deanna said, using travelling books to find out what I might interested in, then found more information about the sights. Then I guided myself touring the city. But it's just me :)
The Paris Walks tours are supposed to be excellent and very affordable. Most are 12 euros.
