i would appreciate any info you can share with me about what to bring with me for dinner's on board. should the outfits be dressy, or what i wear during the day sightseeing. i want to pack lightly if possible. please send me your suggestions.

Check out www.cruisecritic.com and go to the section for River Cruising. There may be people there that can tell you about the tour you're taking. From what I've read, barges don't hold many people and they are rather casual. We did a river cruise in France and while dinners weren't "formal" liek big cruise ships they were "resort casual". No jeans or shorts for dinner. After a day of sightseeing it felt good to shower and change clothes. Stick to mostly one color family and do mix and match. Black skirt or pants with mix and match tops and a basic black dress should be pretty flexable.
