traveling light From France

I am going to France on Business. After I am done, I would like to ditch my computer/and luggage, take a camera and day pack and do a quick three day tour (getting a little intel for a family vacation maybe next summer) 1 where can I "ditch" my stuff without losing it 2 what is the best way to see as much as possible while expending the least amount of $
I am an experienced backpacker and low maintenance - I am in great shape if I can get a daily shower, coffee/tea in the AM and 2 meals per day. thanks in advance

On a recent trip I had a good experience leaving luggage at a hotel. I arranged for this in advance. In my case I left luggage for four days while on a bicycling tour, having stayed at the hotel before and afterwards. However, I think I could have negotiated this arrangement just on the basis of staying before, with no return stay required. The answers to your other questions really depend on what your plans are. There are plenty of cheap rooms outside of Paris, both in hotels and in chambres d'hote. Many cities are served by hostels. However, when one wants to cover a lot of ground quickly. cheapest is not always best. The best value for you might include rail (versus slower bus), especially if purchased in advance, budget hotel near the historic center versus chain on the outskirts, etc. So, what are the parameters of this trip? Where are you "ditching" stuff, where are you flying home from, and where do you want to reconnoiter for 3 days?
