Is the high-speed train up and running from Madrid to Barcelona? I could not find it on their train schedule.

The AVE service currently runs at high speed from Madrid to Llieda. It will make the complete run at high speed all the way through to Barcelona starting on December 21st, when construction of the high speed track is due to be completed.

That is, assuming that the project completes on time and that it doesn't knock the Sagrada Familia over in the process. In the meantime, count on unexpected changes in regular lines, unannounced delays and other joys of life in the 3rd world. Thanks, RENFE!

And for RENFE, 3 years late counts as almost "on time".
