My 17 year old daughter and I will be visiting an aunt who will be living in paris this fall. We will be in paris in mid october for 10 days and would like to venture in France for a few days away from Paris. I have read many ideas and I am wondering what some of your readers' favorite 2 day trips might be. We already are planning a day trip to Versailles. Thank you!
Denise,
What sort of thing would you and your daughter find most interesting? There are lots of possibilities!
You could go west towards Normandy and Mount St. Michel, south towards the Loire Valley (Chenonceau, Amboise, Chinon) or east towards the Alsace region (Reims, Strasbourg).
Good luck with your planning!
Burgundy is just south of Paris , easy to drive in , and Lovely in the Fall. I have 2 suggestions. 1. Rent a car at Orly for a couple of days,d rive south on the A6, get off at Nitry and drive through Burgundy. If you are interested we know lovely places to stay. Send me a PM. If you are not wanting to drive from Paris... Orly is south of Paris... try 2. take a train to Beaune, stay there 2 nights. and at the railway station rent a car for 1 day and drive to the Burgundy canal and Chateauneuf-en- Auxois for the day. Beaune has lots of neat things to do and the drive around Burgundy is easy on the back roads.
If you don't want or plan to drive, there are easy day trips by train to places such as Reims, Chartres, Malmaison, Giverney, Fontainbleu, Chantilly, etc.
