My mom and I are traveling through Europe for 23 days, and we are planning our trip. One part I am stuck on is how to get to Amsterdam to Venice, Italy. She has never been to Europe so I want to maximize our time there but I also don't want to run around and wear her out. So, does anyone have suggestions about this part of our trip? Do we take a plane from Amsterdam to Venice? Is there a place that we should go to in-between Amsterdam and Venice by train? I should also mention she has mobility issues so we can't do anything too rigorous. Thanks for your help!
Hi jennie. There are many great places between Ams and Venice; wihtout knowing your situation it's hard to give advice. If you wnat to go direct, just look at plane fares on Expedia. Looks like around $400 each for a non stop. another option would be fly to Milan for about $100 each on Easy Jet, see what you want in Milan, then easy train to Venice. You may want to get one or more Rick Steves books to help you with your planning; lots of great info. Enjoy your trip!
There are also cheap direct flights from Amsterdam to Venice. For instance, on Transavia.com you can book a (one way) flight to Marco Polo or Treviso (which is a bit further away) for less than 100 euro each in september. Flying is definitely quicker, but it depends whether you want to visit any other place on the way there.
