Traveling by car from Weimar, Germany to Montreux. Need a place to stay about
halfway. Ideas?
Have you figured out your route yet? Are you sticking to autobahns or taking secondary roads? Are you heading west first, then turning south, or are you heading south first, then heading west? For example, if you intend to head west on the autobahn from Weimar toward Frankfurt, then head south toward Switzerland, I suppose somewhere near Heidelberg would be about halfway. But if you can give us your intended route, there may be other options / recommendations. So what are your plans?
Thanks for your help! No idea about a route, probably just the fastest way. Any info about the route as well as a good half-way stopping point, would be great!
The fastest route is 7:30 hours is via A4 to Bad Hersfeld, then A7/A5 down to Frankfurt, on via A5 to Heidelberg or A67 to Mannheim (parallel freeways, takes the same time, freeways meet at Walldorf (where Mr. Astor who founded the "Walldorf Astoria" is from)... From Walldorf via Karlsruhe to Basel to Montreux. Half-way would be in the Baden-Baden area and since both the town as well as the area (the Black Forrest) are well worth a stop my recommendation would be to take a relaxing break at Caracalla Therme in Baden-Baden.
