I will be traveling with my wife and two teenage daughters from Barcelona to Nice the second week of August. I am trying to decide between train, car, bus. Any suggestions?

Other trains take significantly longer. The straight driving time is less than the fastest train times, but that's misleading because it doesn't take into account the time to pick up the car, it off, the off fee to a car off in a different country, etc. If those rail and driving times are too long for you, consider air, the above thread has links to airline timetables for that route.

My husband and I went from Nice to Avignon and then from Avignon to Barcelona. There was a high speed train option from Avignon to Barcelona so the ride was approx 3-4 hours ish. If you take a direct train to Barcelona, I would suggest maybe a night train. A 4 person chouchette would cost you about $30 something per person (with a rail pass), you wouldn't have to share your nook with anyone but your family, you wake up in your desintation and it's cost/time effective.
