I am planning a trip in July with my three granddaughters ages 16, 12, and 11. We are flying in to Paris where we will spend a couple of days, then I would like to take a train to Munich, then rent a car to drive to Salzburg and environs. Any suggestions for the best train etc.?

There are 2 train connections that stand out, one at 9:10 that connects through Mannheim, and one at 11:17 that connects through Stuttgart. There is a possibility of geting an advance nonrefundable fare of 118 euro total for the 4 of you. Trip takes 6 hours and change.
