We are planning a trip to Madrid at the end of March and were thinking we would also travel to Barcelona, with a possible trip to Italy. Any ideas on whether on a 10 day vacation we could do this and enjoy it? If so, where else would you recommend in Spain or Italy?
thank you! I really would like to try and travel to both on this trip, however, I am just not sure 10 days is enough time. I feel like we would be hurrying through cities to try and get to the next. Thank you everyone - this is awesome to get everyones' ideas/thoughts:) Mary
Logistically, though this is tight, you could get a taste of 3 cities in 10 days, one in Italy. You'd have to fly open jaw and also fly between Barcelona and your Italian city. Aesthetically, this would be an unusual use of time, but perhaps it meets your personal preferences best. Especially if you have never been to Italy, I think it would be weird to spend 6 days in Spain and suddenly drop yourself into (say) Rome for a few days. Maybe what you ought to do is come up with your best-possible 10-days-in-Spain itinerary and compare that with this plan. Or if your hearts are really in Italy, spend all the time there. Ten days really isn't a lot of time, and its less if you spend many days of it in transit from place to place.
Thank you so much for your opinion, insight and honesty! I wrote this request, thinking the exact same thing. I think planning a separate trip to Italy may be the answer! Again, that you so much. Mary
Italy is such a wonderful country to visit. I have been to both and would go back to Italy in a heartbeat
