Travel to Paris Nov 5-8

I am scheduled to be in Paris Nov 5-8 at the end of a 10-day trip. Can I expect things to be back to normal by then or should I make alternate plans? I am just concerned about transportation issues...canceled flights, disrupted RER service, etc.

I think it's impossible to say at this point, although based on what I've read in the news some people think things will calm down after the bill gets passed. I was just there and it was fine.

I am in the same situation as you. We have decided to make alternate plans. From what I am gathering from the people on this board, They suggest making alternate arrangements, if possible. Best trip to you!

Susan,

As the others have said, there's absolutely no way to predict what will be happening at that time.

I suspect that now that the Bill has been passed, things will settle down a bit (but who knows?).

Good luck!

Just an FYI. The unions are calling for another strike Nov. 6th. Won't know until the day before how much will be affected.

The vote did pass the other day, but refinery workers didn't walk back on the job. Luckily there weren't huge escalations either. I think it's because Friday was the last day of school before the mid-term holidays and a lot of people want to rest/reax/be with family.

I am also planning on arriving in Paris on Nov 7. The RER will not operate from CDG that weekend due to construction. What are the best options?

Jim, you can either take a Roissypôle bus from CDG1 to the RER station Mitry-Claye and go on into town as usual, or just take the Roissybus directly into Paris; it stops at the Opéra Garnier. I'll include a link to the airport's info on the Roissypôle bus (it might take a few seconds to load): http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/Resources/fc280f84-a23e-485b-910f-323aa889e63e-RERBtravaux2010.pdf See how the RER B looks like a tuning fork? You would've taken the 'left' fork from CDG2, but instead you'll just take a bus for a short ride from CDG1 to the 'right' side of the fork. They say to add an hour to your journey time...which is why I'd take the Roissybus to Opéra Garnier if that made any sense location-wise (then take the metro located across the street if necessary). Or, you can take taxis or shuttle buses for more money...
