Hi
Have an early morning train to Caen/bayeaux leaving from St Lazare. We are staying in the Marais. What would the best and easiest way to get to the train station and how long about should it take? Thanks
When's the train leave?
Where in the Marais are you staying? I.e. near what intersection or metro stop? That information will help figure out the best way to get to Gare St Lazare. Also, if you like, you can look at www.ratp.fr/en for directions using the Paris mass transit system.
Thanks -that web site was very helpful- just what I needed!
Yes, that website is great and being a former New Yorker, I thought that you would have subway experience and would be able to use the site. By the way, there is a RATP app available that I use when I am in Paris. It is available for iphones and probably is available for android phones as well. Another thing that also works well is using Google maps' directions and clicking on the walking or mass transit icons. Enjoy your trip.
I also stayed in the Marais by the Pompidou and went to St Lazare train station to go to Giverny. I believe we took 3 different metros to get to the metro with the same name. We left from Les Halles. I am sure others may come up with the exact metros to take and may have a better way. It took us an hour during morning
work crowds.
You can take Line 14 directly from the Chatelet metro stop to Gare St. Lazare. Chatelet is a short walk from the Les Halles metro stop actually the stations are connected through a series of walkways and are part of the Chatelet-Les Halles, Le Halles, Chatelet metro and RER mash up. Trip time from Chatelet to Gare St Lazare is less than 15 minutes.
