Travel to France around Easter

My wife and I are planning a trip to Paris and the Cote d'Azure in April 2012. We want to avoid Easter vacation crowds, but found out they divide the schools in France up into 3 zones and each zone gets a 2 week vacation overlapping. So it goes on from April 8 to June 5. So is it just a no brainer - the vacationers are spread out and not a problem, or should we avoid that time altogether?

Rich, I'd avoid the actual Easter weekend in Paris if possible - from Good Friday through Easter Monday for sure. Easter Monday is a holiday in most of Europe. There will be tour buses rolling into Paris from many points of Europe for the long weekend. (I've been there). Other than that, April and May are wonderful months to be in Paris.

The weeks before and after Easter are the 2 top weeks for Group travel from the U.S. to Europe (high school, college, church, choirs) and flight prices go up accordingly, so another reason to go the last half of April. Also should be better weather on the Med by then.
