We are going to Paris and Rome for Christmas this year.
Need a nice clean moderate (something $100 a night or less) hotel in Paris for three days that has easy access to some of the more famous attractions and public transportation.
Is there a train that goes from Paris to Rome? Have heard there is.
We found Timhotel in Paris. One is near Eiffel Tower for 79 euro (in March) and one in the Latin Quarter for slightly more. Have not stayed there yet so can't rate them for you yet. Check bookings.com
Good luck.
Trains go everywhere in Europe. But if asking about a direct train with no changes, probably not. But would have to check the schedules which you can do at bahn.de. A 100 US is not moderate, that is cheap - about 65/70 Euro. Major European cities -- London, Paris, Rome, etc. are always more expensive. Go to TripAdviser and see what you search shows for less than $100.
Changing trains is not a big deal, especially on such a long trip. But there is a direct night train.
It is a long trip, you might want to see if there is a budget flight.
Central Paris is quite compact. Any hotel in the heart of the city will be close to a metro station and only a short ride from the major attractions.
The only direct train from Paris to Rome is a night train. You can read all about it here.
Your budget airline choices are Orly-Fiumicino on Vueling, Orly-Ciampino on easyJet, and Beauvais-Ciampino on Ryanair. Be aware that Beauvais is a lengthy bus ride from Paris.
thanks for your imput
