Travel - Salzburg and Munich

Many hotels are booked in Salzburg the end of July. Would you recommend staying in Gstadt am Chiemsee, and using this as a "home base" to visit Salzburg and Munich. We are a family of 6, with 2 parents and 4 young adults.

The only problem I see with Gstadt am Chiemsee is that it does not have a rail station. You will need to take a bus to Prien to catch the train to Munich or to Salzburg.
