travel report

where do you post your travel reports? if you'd like to share your trip? or is that just none-existant?

Trip Advisor encourages trip reporting on their forum. I know it's not RS's, but another good source of information. Everyone there appreciates any tidbits of info shared.

Fodor's runs a lot of travel reports on its forum. I seldom look at those because the style of travel they describe is typically more upscale than I can afford or want: "I picked up my new BMW at the factory and the family headed out to..." or "We were really pampered in business class...", etc.

There is no trip report area on this website. People occasionally post things, but the helpline is supposed to be for questions only. In order to make comments on the Graffiti Wall, though, you choose whatever topic you want to comment on (again, no trip report section) and click on "I'd like to add my comments".

btw, under the graffiti wall, i don't see anything that's remotely relate to sharing travel reports. and there are all these different categories that are unrelated. plus don't see anywhere to even post?

I think many of the posters on here would like a trip report section. It certainly gets discussed rather frequently and so far it has all been positive. Folks like reading trip reports if they aren't too lengthy or super detailed. At the very least, since people come on here and ask their questions, it is nice to have them come back and say, "hey, you know all those tips you gave me, it worked out like this and then we did that, and went there. That route you suggested was perfect, and we were glad that we went to that town you recommended, that wasn't in the guide book. " Lots of people post somewhat brief trip reports on here, so why not just go ahead and do it.

you can go to the Graffiti Wall, clique a sub category like "Mouthwatering Italy" and post there.

The other half of what Jo says is what if they come back and say: 'All of your ideas really sucked. None of you know what you're talking about, especially . . . . . ' and then started listing names. It'd have me running for the hills. Really bad idea.

i spent almost a year trying to make this france trip perfect. half the reason is because i proposed to my gf during this trip. i spent countless hours at different sites with different informations from all over the place and put them all into my notebook. i wish i could just go to one place and find most. perhaps i will start a blog so i wont burden people who doesn't want to read and only the people who searches for specific things on google.

I think many of us would like to see trip reports. This site is just not set up for that. Maybe someday that will change.

Frank, why don't you tell us if your thorough preparation for this trip paid off? Did you both have a wonderful time and - did your girlfriend say "YES"? Maybe you could start a blog but I think you ought to come back here and let us know if you had fun, saw everything you wanted, liked the places you stayed, didn't spend tons more money than you had budgeted and want to go back someday. If you have any suggestions for the rest of us, mention them here. Give us sort of a mini travel report and then write a detailed one for yourself that you could blog later or read on your anniversary or something. Tie it all in with photographs you took....

my through research has definitely paid off during our 16 days in France. We were two young travelers who love to walk. so we had seen so many sites as most people had told us before our trip as "impossible." as a short report: 5 days in paris including versailles stayed at arr. 7 2.5 days in normandy including: Rouen, Bayeux, Dday beach, Mont Saint Michel. slept in Bayeux and on the island of mont saint michel 2.5 days in Loire valley stayed at Onzain and saw: Fougères, Chaumont sur Loire, Valençay, Chenonceau, Cheverny, Chambord, Blois, Villandry, Langeais, Ussé, Amboise. 1 day and stayed in arles and visited sites in arles and sites in avignon. 3 days in Nice: visited Marseille, Nice, Monaco, Eze 1 last day in Paris and bought gifts for family and friends. we definitely stayed under budget as in some areas we just bought stuff from intermache and made food ourselves. We enjoyed every part of this trip, and she said yes at the jardin du tuileries. advise for others: - RER C line is confusing pay attention - Paris museum pass paid off and no lines anywhere - keep your hand on your belongings, you can smell pickpockets and they are easy to spot. - bring sun screen, expensive in france and hard to find. - bring blister stuff, expensive in france. - buy train tickets 3 month in advance way cheaper than pass. - american cc worked everywhere even on toll roads. - bring GPS with speed camera warning.
- try your best to speak french, they will answer back in english, and be nicer to you than ever. :)

Excellent report, Frank. Good information - much appreciated. And - congratulations! What a GREAT place to propose! Almost makes me sad I am already married, and don't have another chance at a proposal. :-(
