Visiting Zurich, Luzern and Interlaken in Switzerland for a week then on to Salzburg and Vienna in Austria. Can the Swiss Pass get me into Salzburg or do I have to buy the Swiss Transfer ticket? Should I buy the Swiss Pass before leaving home? Please advise.

Salzburg is in Austria, hundred of miles from Switzerland. I don't think a Swiss pass can get you to Salzburg. And a Swiss Transfer Ticket gets you from an entry in Switzerland, a border crossing or an airport, to a place in Switzerland, and return. It won't get you to Salzburg. However, if you are going from Salzburg to Vienna, you must have Austria as part of your rail pass. Then you would be covered from where you cross the border from Switzerland into Austria to Vienna.
