We will be based in Geneva and want to take two 2 night trips to an area that is relatively flat or easy to get around. I am a senior citizen who uses a cane and can not climb many stairs or walk more than 10 minutes. We will travel by train and want to visit an area that I can manage. What towns/area would you suggest for my situation?
What do you mean by "take 2 night trips" ? What are the limitations of the person you will be with??I admire your spunk. I'm 59 and love traveling and have given a lot of thought as to how I would travel IF I was limited with walking, don't know exactly how I will do it, but I plan to have a motorized wheel-chair and will do my best to still enjoy this wonderful world. Annecy, France might be a consideration, beautiful village. Give us more info.
We were recently in Switzerland and stayed in Wengen. Anything in that area requires lots of walking for sure. Had a rainy day and went to Bern. It is mostly flat and has escalators in the train station. That could be an option for you. The Einstein home there is very interesting but climbing the spiral stairs would make it impossible. It is a pretty town and worth a visit.
Lucerne is flat as I remember. lots to see in the town- easy walking. Also can get boat rides tosee the surrounding mountains. Convenient if you are leaving from Zurich.
