Travel in Spain & Portugal

Does anyone have any idea how long it would take to get from Granada to Lagos. We'll be taking the train or bus, whichever is faster and easier.

Unfortunately, any train will require you to go back to Madrid, over to Lisbon, then down to Lagos. That leaves the bus, which is cheap and comfortable, but the connections are tricky. Working backwards, there's one daytime bus per day from Sevilla to Faro (3-430 pm, 18 Euro, check http://www2.alsa.es/portal/index.asp?lang=en). From Faro, you can catch one of several Portuguese commuter trains to Lagos...there are ones at @ 530, 615, 715, and 810 pm (1:45 travel time, 6.40 Euro, see http://tinyurl.com/2tlm2q). Now, from Granada to Sevilla, there are several buses/day, four of which will get you in in time to take the Sevilla-Faro bus...they leave at 8, 9, 10am, and 12 pm, taking 2:45 to 3:15 and costing about 18 Euro. See http://www.movelia.es. You will have to transfer from the San Sebastien bus station in the southeast part of downtown, to the Plaza de Armas station in the southwest of downtown....a quick and inexpensive cab ride. (more)

There is a Portuguese bus company that makes the run from Sevilla (Sevilha) to Lagos direct, but I've never used it. See http://www.eva-bus.com/home.php?lang=UK. Remember...bus tickets in Spain carry reserved seats, so check your ticket carefully.
