Travel in France with limited mobility

My husband and I will be in France for five nights. Since recovering from a broken ankle, we would like to find a smaller town and just relax, stroll a bit, eat a lot. Where would you go if you had one place to visit and relax in? Train/ bus from Charles DeGaulle Airport and no car rental.

Be sure to get a hotel with elevator. I think Avignon connects to CDG by train. It's level, fairly small, and quite strollable. There is a big park not far from the train station and TI where you can sit and watch the world. The TGV does not go into the town center, but a bus or short taxi ride gets you there. I spent most of a week in Avignon the year of the volcano, trying to figure out what to do. I did my figuring at a neighborhood bar, using my small laptop. Wifi was free and available at various places then, but not at my small hotel.

There are some lovely small to medium sized towns not far from CDG that are reachable by bus. Senlis is one; Plailly is a lot smaller. Great food and walks in both.
