We are going to Belgium and the Netherlands in Sept.
We are flying into Brussels and then taking a train
to Brugge for 3 nights. We then go on to Amsterdam for
2 days but we have 3 days and 2 nights inbetween. And
after Amsterdam we will have another 4 days before we
we fly out. We are taking trains so will have luggage
to deal with. We only have reservations in Brugge and
Amsterdam right now. All suggestions will be appreciated.
We leaving in mid-August for 5 nites in Amsterdam and then 5 nites in Bruge. After doing lots of research, we decided that staying 5 nites in each location would be the best use of our time. Happy travels.
There is a really nice little town in the South of The Netherlands called Delft. It was the home of the artist Johannes Vermeer. It's close to The Hague and the seaside resort of Scheveningen. It's very beautiful and very peaceful. It's about halfway between Amsterdam and Brussels. There are plenty of good hotels not far from the rail station. We love it and try to visit at least once a year.
Try spending a night in Leuven, which is a quick train ride to the east of Brussels. The cafe culture that awakes every night on the public markets is quite impressive.
The possibilities are endless, but you should have time to head to Paris and or London. Paris is easily reached from Brussels and Amsterdam via the Thalys high speed train, and London is easily reached from Amsterdam via Easy jet, and from Brussels via the Eurostar chunnel train.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I
do want to see Delft and thought about spending
a night there and then going on to Haarlem.
I will take a look at Lueven, also.
We have already been to Paris and London 3 times.
The close proximity to the different countries
makes decisions harder.
