I am disabled, and will be traveling with a scooter. I am told that navigating the street in Amsterdam might be too difficult for someone who does not walk. Any opinions?
I see people traveling all the time all over the Netherlands in scooters. Most just join the fun in the bike lane if bromfiets (or motorscooters) are allowed. (And before someone corrects me, I am aware of the type of scooter you are referring to in the OP.)
I think you will be okay.
It's hard to appreciate accessability issues when you haven't dealt with it personally. Older cities didn't consider accessability when they were being built.
Most roads in Adam though are flat to mirror the canals with up and over curved bridges. Since everything caters to bikes there are very few bridges with stairs.
You may have some issues with using public transportation (trams may have access. I don't recall seeing it, but I wasn't looking.)
Getting off the street and into hotels and sites will be your biggest problems. Many buildings are narrow with lots of stairs. You need a newer hotel with an elevator.
You may also want to check out the websites of museums to see if they mention accessability so you can plan an itinerary that will work for you.
