Travel from Sevilla to Granada

Hi All,

I need some tips for experienced folks here to get from Sevilla to Granada. I will be travelling in June '08 with wife and 2yr old son. I want a point-point connection b/n cities prefer a train - is RENFE the best choice? Do I need to make some advance booking?
How about from Granada to Barcelona - do I need to book thru Vueling in advance?

Thanks a lot!!

Book Vueling as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more expensive the seats become, so jump on their website ASAP. For Sevilla-Granada, take the bus....large, comfortable air-conditioned coaches, with the travel time about three hours. That's the same as the train, but much cheaper, at 18 Euro pp. There are about 10 buses per day....a couple are NOT direct, so avoid those. You'll get your bus at the San Sebastián bus station, about a 15 minute walk east of the downtown tourist areas. Go to maps.google.com and copy and paste coordinates inside the brackets (37.381539, -5.986288) and that'll bring you right to the bus station's main entrance. Get your tickets when you get to Sevilla, and you should be OK. Just remember, bus seats in Spain are assigned, so look for the seat numbers on your tickets.

Norm,

Thanks a lot for the details!!
I will book the Veuling tickets asap.
For S-G, if bus is good then I will take that instead of the train.

BTW, are all the buses the same type/comfort? I am also planning to take bus from Sevilla to Cordoba. Just curious.

Generally speaking, yes. Lots of people take the intercity coaches in Spain because they are so much cheaper than trains. Be forwarned, though, they usually don't have washrooms, but they do stop once during journeys over 2 hours or so. Just don't load up on coffee before you leave!

Azim, better than RENFE for Seville to Granada, take the bus. Modern, comfortable, frequent, much nicer than buses here in the states, and (as I recall) about 3 or 4 hours.

Azim,

use the following website to book your bus trips:
http://www.movelia.es

hope this helps. most of the bus lines use this scheduling site, but there are a few that don't. regardless, you should be able to book on here.

Hi Azim,I agree with the gentleman from Boston- the bus is frequent and cheap. There's a great web site www.andalucia.com, tells you all the times and plenty of information about the area.
In Spain, when you buy a bus ticket for any length of journey, usually you are assigned a seat- I didn't know about that when I caught the bus from Malaga to Granada and got all comfy in a nice seat, only to get turfed out again!
Have a good time!
