It's an easy train ride! If you're going to travel much in France, you may want to become more familiar with how you travel there--some knowledge can save you a lot of money. Go here to see train schedules for all over Europe: click here

There is now a high speed TGV that goes to Reims. After Reims, the train continues, but at regular speeds.
The train leaves from Paris Est and takes about 45 minutes. Check the TGV website. The US booking sites says about $39 one way.

According to www.voyages-sncf.com, the standard 2nd class fare on a direct TGV is €37.40. Booked well in advance (up to 90 days allowed), you can get a Prem's fare of €15. If you take a regional train, the fare is €23.30 (no discount for advance booking on regional trains).

Does anyone know what the deal is with the high speed train and the rail pass? Is there an upgrade fee for the high-speed train?

JB....yes, there are extra fees for high-speed trains even with a railpass.

For railpass holders the reservation fee on a TGV is 3-4 euros--if you buy it at a station in France. It's more if you buy it from Rail Europe--plus there is a shipping fee.
