I have read some old threads on this topic and still debating whether it is better to fly from Paris to Barcelona which seems to be a quicker option. Or take the train which seems like less hassle (i.e. train goes directly into the downtown area, don't have to deal w/airport security). Would love your opinion.
Thanks everyone! I agree that our time is valuable so we are going to fly.
And you want someone else to make that decision for you? Both is available and it's up to you which one you prefer. Is time a factor? Or cost? Convenience? How could I pick that one for you?
If you have read the old discussion then you have the arguments pro and con. It is a personal preference. Our benchmark is about six or seven hours on the train. Longer than that and we consider air but air is big hassle so only you can decide.
Well as said, personal taste, train is longer and there is a change of trains to get to Barcelona( simple one just get off one and switch to one on another track).
I am flying Barcelona to Paris in August. It cost me 97.50 euros( for two of us, all in) on Easyjet and takes less then 1.5 hours. Even with airport time its faster, and since I booked well in advance its cheaper. If you book later prices will vary considerably though. So if price is a factor do your research on that.
If it's a relatively short vacation, then fly. Your time is the most valuable thing when you only have 2 weeks or so to travel. Flying will be MUCH faster than the train. If you have more time, then the train is scenic and relaxing.
Do they still have the night train? You just go to sleep and wake up in Barcelona. Instead of changing trains, they changed the wheels width while everyone slept.
