I am planning to drive from Honfleur in Normandy to Charles de Gaulle on a Wednesday morning in August to catch a flight at 1:30 pm. I am wondering if I can expect traffic and would I be better off staying closer to the airport. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Allow four hours. Use the freeway west of the river (don't cross the bridge just to say you've done it). Turn in the car three hours prior to departure. The last gas fill up is going to be a bear, eat the cost of turning it in empty.
Ed, I bow to your superior knowledge, but four hours from Honfleur to deGaulle? How come? I could swear I've done the reverse in less.
August, farm trucks southbound on the freeway. New guy, hard to find the way out of Honfleuer, might go across the new bridge anyway if he reads the Paris signs, right there puts him at three plus a lot. New guy, might miss the A86 and get tangled on the Peripherigue. New guy, might miss the car turn-in and drive the airport loop three times. The question wasn't how fast I could do it (2.5 including a coffee stop).
