We will be in munich at the end of may for 4-6 days then travel via train to venice. We have possibly a couple of days in between and were looking for suggestions on places to visit and places to stay like Salsburg/Black forest.We are on somewhat of a budget and prefer B@Bs or nice inexpensive 3 stars.Also looking for areas to visit near venice. thanks Mark

I think there are closer places to your "path". Take the train around to Hallstatt for a day, then go on via Stainach-Irdning to Insbruck and on to Italy. Or, go down to Holzkirchen and on to Bayerischzell or Osterhofen, then over the Wendelstein to Brannenburg, then to Innsbruck. Or, third, go south to Mittenwald, then to Seefeld in Tirol and on to Innsbruck. There is plenty to see in that area, don't go out of your way to Salzburg/Black Forest.

Look at the train route and you will some nice places right on your path, such as Mittenwald. Or if you prefer to see more of Italy, Bolzano and Verona are right on you way, both very worthy of a visit.
