What is the best way to get from Marseille, France to Rome? Train travel seems to be quite long, requiring 4-5 train changes. Would one recommend stopping in city along the way? If so, please suggest a city. Is there a way to get to Rome from Marseille via boat? Thank you for responding.
Take a train from Marseille to Lyon in time to catch the afternoon easyJet flight to Rome Ciampino.
Tim,
Thank you... appreciate your answer.

Hi Carol,
we flew out of Nice and directly to Rome. The fare was not terribly expensive as we flew on a budget airling similar to Southwest. The Nice airport is quite small and easy to navigate. Taxi took us from Antibes to the airport gate with no problem. Best part of all, the flight was less than an hour! The only thing you have to be careful about is excess luggage, as there is a charge. As long as you pack light, though, this won't be an issue!
Good luck!
Thank you Lindsey,
I appreciate your detailed response! We just might try this.
Your Nice-Rome Fiumicino budget airline choices are blu-express and Meridiana.
