My wife and I are traveling around Europe for 7 weeks from August to September. We will be in Switzerland for just over a week in August. We will have a rental car and will be staying close to Gersau for a night. We need to be in Salzburg the next day. First, if we were to travel directly from Gersau to Salzburg without stopping, which way would be better? First option is to go by Munich. It looks like this route is shorter but not by much. The second option is to go through Innsbruck. Which route has better scenery and not too many toll roads? Another option is to go see the German castle of Neuschwanstein. It looks like this would add about an hour of traveling to our trip. Would it be worth it? We have seen a lot of castles in France before and we only have just over a day and half in Salzburg so it might be better just to go to Salzburg as fast as possible in order to enjoy salzburg as much as possible... Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
