Travel from Berchtesgaden to Frankfurt

I will have purchased a rail pass and wonder what is the best way to travel from Berchtesgaden to Frankfurt.
What is the time it takes and the best way? Bus and train or just train?

Dan, use the DBahn website to get all of your train schedules. http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en I like to research and print off all of my possible train schedules (different days, times, etc.) and take them with me. I don't always stay somewhere that has internet. Explore this website and the train schedule. If you click on the arrow, you can get a full itinerary of stops that particular train makes. This is helpful to know which stop comes before you want to get off. Yes, they announce the stops on the train, however, sometimes it's hard to understand. Also, if the train trip you want to take has a Circled R on the schedule, that means you have to have seat reservations. You purchase these at the station. These are not included in the price of the pass, it is an additional fee. If you buy a point to point ticket and don't use your pass, the ticket includes a seat reservation. You can get more info on using the trains on this website. Have a great trip.

Use the German Rail (Bahn) website to find schedules. Looks like it takes about 6h45min by train with changes in Freilassing and Munich. What's "best"? I think the train would be faster. Buses in Germany tend to be short distance local routes. Even if you could find a string of local buses all that way, it would probably be a long trip, timewise, with many changes. There are some international buses in Europe, but they often make only one stop per country. There is an RVO bus from Berchtesgaden to Salzburg. You might find an international bus from Salzburg to Frankfurt.

If you have purchased a rail pass it seems to me that the only way to getting close to breaking even on it is to ride the trains. Why would you spend money on a rail pass and not use it and then pay more money on a bus?
