I am traveling with my 7 year old daughter this summer for 5 weeks. For the first part of our trip we arrive in Amsterdam in late May and plan to travel the Rhine by train and boat then take the train on to Salzberg. Is it worth staying in St Goar for more than 1 night? Is this the best starting point for an overnight then a hour or two by boat on the Rhine? We plan to get back on the train and then spend one more night in Germany before heading for Salzberg. Any suggestions for the best place to spend another night before heading to Salzbeg? Mainz, Heidelberg, Somewhere else?
