You won't save any time by taking a TGV. They cannot run at high speed along the coast. Regional trains are just as fast on that route.
However, I'm with Kent in recommending you visit someplace closer that is easily reachable by either train or bus.
You're looking at four hours each way. To see how to get from Nice to Aix, go to www.bahn.de. After you get summary timetables, click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points. You'll find that the earliest you can arrive in Aix is 09:55 and the latest you can leave there is 20:15.
As previous posters have noted, you only get the regional train to Aix, and not often. TGV will get you to Paris from Nice, or to Aix from Paris, but not connecting.
There are lots of other places close by Nice - Grasse, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Vence. The train travels mostly along the coast, but if you want to tour inland a car or tour might be a better bet.
