Which travel guides would be helpful? We are seniors traveling by our first river cruise from Basel, Switzerland to Antwerp, Belgium by the Rhine and Mosel Rivers in the fall of 2009. We bought Rick Steves' "Best of Europe" but it covers none of the route.
You probably won't find one guidebook that covers your entire route. For Belgium, just about any book besides Rick Steves' will suffice (he only covers Bruges and Brussels). Because booking a hotel is probably not a concern for you, try the Insight or Eye Witness series.
Richard,
You'd probably have to buy the Germany 2009 book as well, as it appears that you'll be there for the majority of your journey.
One other suggestion would be to check your local Library and have a look at other Guidebooks to see if one of these offers coverage of the areas you'll be going. Try Lonely Planet, Frommers, Rough Guides, Let's Go or others.
Happy travels!
