Can someone tell me about how long it takes to travel from Rothenburg to Dachau? Is it best to take the train, and then transfer to a bus? I'll be traveling to Germany next month. Thanks!

Approximately 3 hrs 15 minutes to 3-1/5 hours. Coast approximately 33,20 Euros. Change trains at Steinach and Truechlinger there are trains running every hour or so. Assuming you will be leaving Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

If you do this trip with a Bayern-Ticket it will cost (coast) you €20 for a single person (Bayern-Ticket Single) or €28 for 2-5 people (Bayern-Ticket).
The second change of trains is in Treuchtlingen.
The regional train from Treuchtlingen stops at Dachau station on the way to Munich Hbf. There is a bus (#728) from there to the Memorial (KZ-Gedenkstätte, Dachau). If you are using a Bayern-Ticket, the cost of the bus is included. In fact, all of your travel by regional trains and buses, and use of all conveyances in the MVV (Munich metro), all day, is included with the Bayern-Ticket.
It will actually take you about 3h 40m to the Memorial, by the time you wait 20 min for the bus, which takes 7 min.
