I am in Nice and want to drive to Dordogne and it is too long to do in one day. What stop do you recommend between these two locations.
The little seaside village of Sete is right about at the midpoint. Nimes isn't quite half-way, but it has more to offer for Roman stuff. You're nuts if you spend the night in Carcassonne - - well, maybe not, but get there late and take a walk.
Ed, thanks for your reply. Sounds like a choice between Sete and Nimes. I look up both and decide. Jim
Jim, Ed has given you good overviews, but between both of you, it is unclear how long the stopover is to be. If it is a short evening, Carcasonne offers the most spectacular hour or two. Nimes has a lot to offer if you have several hours. Sete is, as Ed said, a nice seaside village, good for a drink, dinner, and bed.
