We have a full day to travel between this Castle and Basel France/Switzerland/Germany. we'd also like to stay over night at a beautiful village town (Friday night) and enjoy the scenery and "local life style".. Any suggestions? Thank you May 8th, Friday

Let me see if I understand... you want a place to stay between Neuschwanstein and Basel? Consider Lindau. Not really a village, but a beautiful small town that sits on an island in the Bodensee.

I can't understand the concept of having a "full day" to travel and "staying overnight" on the way. Assuming you really mean that you are willing to do it in two full days with one overnight, Lindau would be a good choice, as would Friedrichshafen (Zeppelin museum), Mainau, or Singen.
BTW, although I have never spent a night in Lindau, I have visited it for part of a day five times. Always a treat.
