We are traveling through Spain and Portugal in late September. We are going to rent a car once we get to Toledo and turn it in somewhere near Salema to train into Lisbon. Now we find out that there is a huge drop charge in Portugal is we rent in Spain. We would like to hear about the experience anyone has had traveling from Seville to Salema to Lisbon with droping a car, training or busing. What worked and what did not work. And the time spent as well as the costs. Thanks.
I have not done this, but have been looking for the same routing, except in reverse. I do know there is a Hertz in Huelva, Spain, fairly near the Portugal border. If you picked up a car in Toledo, you could return it to Huelva, get the bus to Faro, Portugal and pick-up a rental there and drive to Salema and on to Lisbon and return your car there. I don't hve the costs handy, but it is more expensive to rent a car in Spain than Portugal. Somewhere on Traveler's Helpline this same question has been addressed probably 4-6 wks ago. This is a start.
