There's a detailed list of options at http://europeforvisitors.com/paris/articles/paris-cdg-ground-transportation.htm. RER followed by metro is usually the fastest, but can be very crowded (it's not just a dedicated airport service) and Metro interchanges can involve carrying luggage through long passageways and up and down stairs. Taxis need least luggage-humping but can take a long time in heavy traffic and are expensive. Buses can get caught in traffic, but may be more convenient than the train and metro if your hotel is close to somewhere they stop at.
One problem with the rue Cler is that looking at the map it doesn't seem to be vastly conveniently sited to get to from CDG: the nearest metro station is Ecole Militaire which will need a couple of changes whether you take the RER or any of the bus routes.
You will find lots of responses regarding this question if you read down on this page. Also read the archives.
For 3, I'd take a taxi. For 1 person, take the Roissy bus to the Madeleine where you switch to the metro which is less than a block's walk. Take line 8 direction Balard to the Ecole Militaire stop. There are 3 exits - look for rue Cler. But whatever exit you take, it's only a block or less. I've never found the bus to be crowded - usually almost empty. It's not as easy as a taxi, but much cheaper. It's much easier than the RER. See Rick's Paris book for detailed instructions.
Lisa,
There are several options. Here's some information from one of my earlier replies on the subject:
You might want to check either the France 2009 or Paris 2009 Guidebooks, as they contain a fairly good description on the various options for getting from CDG into Paris.
If you're going to be travelling with a substantial amount of heavy luggage, the Airport Shuttle or Taxi would probably be the best option (with three splitting the cost of a Taxi, this might be a cost effective method).
I was in Paris at the end of May and chose the RER "B" from CDG to Gare du Nord (fare was €8.40), and then the Metro to Rue Cler. It was very easy! However, one point to note is that to obtain tickets for the RER from the automated machines, a "chip" credit card is needed. There is a ticket office, but the queue's are often LARGE
Happy travels!
Thank you to everyone! This gives me lots of good ideas.
