Going from Munich to Salzburg and Salzburg to Vienna by train only 1 way's no round trip. I have heard it may be better to buy tickets at train station the day of insted of pre-buy - any suggestions. Thanks Scott
How long are you going to be in Salzburg? If you are possibly going Munich to Salzburg in the morning and going on to Vienna that evening, you can get some pretty good advance purchase deals (as low as €29 pP) from the Bahn. The only reason it would be better to buy tickets at the train station is for flexibility. The Bayern-Ticket, which you could use for Munich to Salzburg is the same price (€21 single, €29 up to 5 P) from an automat in the station or online. The BT is €2 more if you get it at a ticket counter.
What are you asking or mean by "better?" It easy to buy the day of or day before but you might miss some discount possibility. On the other hand you are not committed to a specific train and time for departure. Trains rarely, if ever, fill up.
Thanks, We are going to be in Munich for 3 days and Salzburg for 3 days and then flying to Amsterdam from Vienna.
