We are planning a trip to Spain in June spending 4 days in Barcelona, 5 days in Madrid with day trips, 2 in Granada, 2 in Sevilla. We have 5 more days, would you stay and travel in Southern Spain or go into Portugal? Is there a train from Sevilla to Lisbon? What are the buses like? We have not decided where to fly home from Madrid or Lisbon. any help would be appreciated!
There's no train Sevilla-Lisbon....unless you go back to Madrid for the only train on that run, an overnight train. Bus is probably the best way, either up and over to Lisbon, or into the Algarve and then by Portuguese train into Lisbon. Buses are comfortable and inexpensive...but only 2 or 3 runs a day. The other alternative would be to head to northern Spain...better transportation links, but longer distances.
thanks for the information. Are there any day trips to take from Sevilla or Granada or would you stay 2 nights in each town and go somewhere else?

Hi Karen,
The above link is for Via Michelin. It could possibly answer many of your transit questions.
It is widely believed that 'the train in Spain stays mainly in the plain' ... lol.
vaya con Dios!
