trains from Madrid to Malaga in late Dec

We live in Prague and are planning a visit to Malaga on 12/25 or 12/26. I'm having trouble getting to the right website for train schedules from Madrid to Malage. I've been to the renfe site but I keep getting info that there are not direct routes. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The knowledgeable Lola almost has it. The winter schedules for RENFE may not be available until as late as the second Sunday in November based on the past 'n' years performance. Terry - you seem to be without this - http://tiny.cc/5ynb6 which is a guide to use, large discounts and all known troubles.

Renfe is the correct site and there are direct trains (AVE) from Madrid to Malaga (note spelling). Th eproblem is that schedules change in mid-December all over Europe and schedules for dates after Dec. 13 or so are not available yet. You can use an earlier a date to get an idea as the schedule will change very little. Using December 6, for example, you will see trains departing madrid at 7:35, 9:35, 11:35, 12:35, 14:35, and more. And right now there are still web fares of 35 ro 42 euros available for those dates. You should check each day for the trains to appear so you can purchase the web fares. Use the "purchase" function, not the "schedules" shich will not show the discounted fares.

Using the Bahn I see a nonstop train almost every hour like: Madrid-Puerta de Atocha Th, 20.10.11 dep 07:35 AVE 2072 AVE Subject to compulsory reservation, Global price, Sleeperette, Snacks and beverages available, space for wheelchairs, Video coach available, Compartment for disabled travellers
Malaga Th, 20.10.11 arr 10:05 However - the clincher is you want to do it on Christmas Day and the day after. I can't get a result for that either. That is either because, like the British railways, virtually nothing runs on those days, every year, or because the new schedules for after 11 December are not posted. If its the latter, for an idea of what's available in general, put in a date for the same day of the week before then. If its the former you may be out of luck. I can't tell you which it is.
