Train Travel - Caen to Provence

In October, we plan to spend a few days in Paris, train over to Caen for a few days, then spend about 2 weeks getting to Provence. We would like to take the train down through the Loire Valley from Caen, stay a few days, then again down to the Dordogne area for several days, before continuing to Provence. Has anybody done this general route by train? thoughts/recommendations? Thx!

have done this on 2 separate trips but never on a train. there are too many cool little places you can't reach without a car, so highly recommend you get a car, don't count on train/bus as much.
