I'm looking to travel between Barcelona, Ribadeo, and Sevilla over a period of 8-9 days. Does anyone know the best place to look up train routes (duration and cost) and rental car info? Depending on train duration over this distance, would it make more sense to just rent a car?
Thanks Kathryn!
Renfe is the website for trains in Spain. You should be able to look up routes, costs, etc. It's also possible to purchase your tickets ahead of time and save money. For car rental, I consistently use Auto Eurpoe. They seem to have the best prices and excellent service.
I'm not familiar with Ribadeo, but driving between Barcelona and Sevilla would be a significantly long drive.
Kristina - Rental cars are very reasonable these days in Spain. We have a small car booked for 11 days in September for a total cost of 130 euro. I've seldom had much success with AutoEurope. I would suggest carrentals.com, where I usually find the best rates and service.
Thanks Ron! How difficult is it to drive between cities in Spain? (Road conditions, speed limits, etc) I'm trying to figure out if its feasible to fly into Barcelona, head to San Sebastián and then Ribadeo by car in 8-9 days. From Ribadeo we'd have to catch a flight to Munich, and I don't know where the nearest reasonably priced international airport is, we may have to drive to Madrid!) honestly, if it's as easy to get around by car as it is in the states, we'd probably just make Madrid our last destination. Just not sure if I'm biting off more than I can chew by trying to fit in Ribadeo since it's so far....
Train from Sevilla to Barcelona basically requires you to go through Madrid. It's all high speed rail and quite a schlep, but faster than by car, albeit less interesting.
