Train travel across Switzerland

Please advise me which train to take accross Switzerland in June. We arrrive in Zurich at 11:00 and will travel to Murren where we have reservations for the night.
The second day, we leave Murren and have reservations in Lusanne. I was planning on taking the Golden Pass from Zurich to Montreux, but have noticed comments that the scenic trains are 'rip offs' and offer nothing more. We obviously want to see the scenery as we travel. Can someone advise us? If there are any details you can provide it will make travel easier. We are spending two days traveling across Switzerland and we are meeting other family in the Geneva airport on the third morning.

Skip Lausanne and spend another night in Muerren. You can take the Golden Pass from Interlaken to Montreaux...just outside of Geneva.

Montreaux is just outside of Lusanne not Geneva. Scenic trains aren't 'rip offs', they are a very relaxing way to see the country side....go for it:) Check schedules at the Swiss Rail site: http://rail.ch
Zurich airport to Murren is a 3 hour journey, you will be there in plenty of time for dinner.

I don't think the scenic trains are a rip off either...I think what people may be saying are there are local trains that go the same routes for less money.....but I have riden the scenic trains and love watching the scenery pass by. Switzerland has a great train system. When you get to Montreux, you will only be 15-20 minutes by rail from Lausanne. Lausanne is only 45 minutes or so from Geneva. If you have a rail pass and the time, you may want to investigate taking a lake boat from Montreux to Lausanne....but that is a much longer trip. If you don't have a rail pass, you may want to look into buying a 30 day half fare card for 99 franc at the train station. It is what is says, you can ride most boats and most trains for half fare with the card. Figure your point to point tickets and then decide....sometimes it is cheaper to not buy the half fare card, sometimes it saves money. Don't forget to eat chocolate and drink some delicious Swiss wine!!

OK, let me clarify my previous statement...Montreaux is 30 minutes from Lausanne and 1 hour from Geneva. How ever you choose to interpret "just outside of" is relative when you're talking about a 30 minute difference. But I still recommend staying 2 nights in Mürren :-)
